Little Woman

The little one has been asking to have her ears pierced for some time now. In fact, we went to our local ear piercing centre, but were told that we would have to come back when there were two people on staff - the woman wouldn't pierce her unless it was done both ears simultaneously.

I'm an esthetician, and while I don't pierce ears on a regular basis, I have done it before, and the salon I work at does have the gun - so we decided to finally go for it.

Now, I remember having my ears done when I was 9, and I didn't find that it really hurt. Sure, there was the initial sting, but after that I just remember the hot warmth radiating from the holes for awhile after, and then it being fine. Well, let me tell you. She cried. Hard.

We had M&M's in her lap, so we popped a few and the tears subsided. Convinced already that we were leaving with one ear done (which would have been fine with me), I asked her if she wanted the second one done, to which she replied "Yes". So I got myself together and loaded the gun a second time. She sat there so patiently, knowing that it was going to hurt again, but she wanted them done. Again, she cried hard, and we popped some more M&M's.

She was quiet for about an hour, but since then she has been proudly showing off her new earrings.

I am so proud of how brave she was for persevering through the hurt, and pushing for the final product. I think that this shows her true character, and as her mom, I couldn't be more proud.

Let's try this again.

It's been a long time since my last post. Right now we are getting ready for my little one's 5th birthday party. I'm going to try to do some catching up and see if I can get this going again.
